A Richard Strauss Opera Gala
Hildegard Behrens, Pamela Coburn, and Franz Hawlata feature in a gala concert recorded live from the 1996 Richard Strauss Festival at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with Gustav Kuhn conducting the Münchner Rundfunkorchester. They sing a selection of arias and duets from Strauss's operas Capriccio and Salome. The concert opens with the orchestra playing the rarely-performed Symphonische Fantasie from Die Frau ohne Schatten.

The Turks are travelling... In the Neapolitan tradition, "the Turks" are emblematic of the incursions from the Orient in earlier times. In magical symbolism, on the other hand, "the Turks" often represent the souls of the deceased; above all, when they are, at certain times, among the living...
Li Turchi Viaggiano consists of original compositions and traditional material. When traditions die out, they can continue travelling in the creations of an artist, even if this occurs in a new form. This work genuinely reflects Roberto De Simone’s creative versatility, more than 20 years after he gained legendary success with his ‚Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare‘.
‚Media Aetas‘, which then succeeded the ‚NCCP‘, has become the ideal, Janus-headed performer of De Simone’s works, as it consists of the music theatre ensemble ‚Media Aetas Teatro‘, and the music group ‚Media Aetas‘. Its name meaning ‚Middle Ages‘, as well as ‚Period of Transition‘, this group unites outstanding singers/actors and some of Italy’s finest musicians, feeling equally at ease in folk, classical music and jazz.
